Kingsley Zacharias
Mozambique

Pastor Kingsley Zacharias grew up in a home which practiced the traditions of the country. Smoking and drinking were his pastimes. His father was a soldier and his country was ravaged by war. He decided to leave Mozambique and escape from the fighting. It was a risk of life and death, but they made it safely as a family to the peaceful bordering country of Malawi. It was there that Kingsley learned English and more importantly learned who God is. On February 22, 1989, Kingsley attended an evangelistic crusade where the evangelist preached from Proverbs 28:13, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.” Kingsley wanted that mercy. After the message, he repented and gave his life to Jesus Christ. In return, God gave him peace in his heart. Kingsley was a free man!
His wife’s name is Maria. Before she was a Christian, she was involved in brewing beer, and she was possessed of an evil spirit that made her regularly sick. One day, a pastor named Jacinto visited her and talked to her about Jesus and His work for mankind. Maria listened to him and was convicted by the Holy Spirit to receive Jesus as her own personal Savior. She thought about this decision for a week, but when she repented and claimed Jesus as her own, she was healed from her sickness and delivered from the evil spirit. Today Maria knows the peace of God, and she gives God the glory for what He has done in her life.
After his conversion, Kingsley joined an evangelistic group that visited house to house sharing Jesus with people. He learned very much from this group. The desire to preach and teach grew in his soul until the Lord opened ways for him to study His Word extensively. Kingsley returned to his native land of Mozambique where, though civil strife has ceased, there was great poverty and need. The Lord has used Kingsley to reach thousands with His message of salvation and new life. He has also founded a ministry that takes care of orphans, trains leaders and ministers to equip and teach others.
