Olive Nigena
#148438
Birthday: 04/15/2000

Olive Nigena is from Congo D.R. She lost her father when the rebels attacked the army post in the village, forced him to carry the things they’d stolen, and when he refused, he was beaten mercilessly. He was not well for three weeks and finally passed away. Since Olive’s father was of the provider in the household, Olive’s mother worked hard to make the ends meet but her thyroid disease made things even tougher for her. The disease went untreated for too long and it took her life.

I am Olive’s grandfather, father of her mother. After the death of my daughter, her brother-in-law approached me with the bad news and mentioned to me of their condition. I decided to take two grandchildren under my custody and Olive was one of them.

The last few years have been incredibly challenging - I have not been able to reap anything form my farmland in the village because we had to flee. The city we are in now is safer, but we live on a smaller income and we have more expenses. If Olive is sponsored, she will not only have her basic needs met, but she will be able to stay in school and progress in life. It will provide her access to medical facilities and will be able to live a healthier and longer life.

Olive has a funny personality. She loves playing handball at school and French is her favorite subject. Her favorite color is green and her favorite food is beans and rice. I sincerely thank you for your support and prayers. I thank you again from the core of my heart for the personal sacrifices which all of you have made to make this possible for Olive. God Bless.
