At the heart of Gospelink is the desire to serve as a catalyst for the indigenous church. We want to work alongside nationals who are actively pursuing God‘s mission within their own context. We believe that the local church is God‘s agent of change for individuals and communities around the world. Our desire is to be a resource for them and encouragement to their efforts. Our partnership with the national preacher begins with prayer and financial assistance, and continues through networking and leadership development at the international, national, and district levels.
Why Work with National Preachers?
National preachers have all the privileges of citizenship. They may be persecuted for their faith, but because of their citizenship, they are still able to minister within their own nation.
The typical national preacher needs about $150 per month in order to dedicate themselves to the work of ministry in their nation.
National preachers have only five sponsors and can dedicate 100% of their time to evangelism, discipleship, and church planting because their accountability is maintained on the foreign eld.
National preachers are already on the foreign eld and involved in ministry. Because their financial assistance is secured by Gospelink, there is no loss of ministry time while they are awaiting sponsorship.
National preachers know only their own culture, and have no need to adjust to a new way of life. They therefore do not experience any “culture shock.”
National preachers do not need to spend any time learning a new language in order to minister in their nations. It is common for a national preacher to speak more than one language or dialect.
Types of Sponsorship
Four steps of initial accountability must be met in order to qualify a national preacher to receive assistance through Gospelink. Once these requisites are met, efforts are made to provide the national preacher with sponsorship assistance in three areas: ministry, outreach, and training. To maintain their assistance through Gospelink, the remaining four steps of accountability must be followed.
Three ministry sponsorships of $40 per month are secured for the national preacher. From each sponsorship, the national preacher receives $32, while the remaining $8 is used for accountability expenses (such as, international travel, postage, correspondence, development, and expansion). National preachers use their portion of the ministry sponsorships to provide their families with food, clothing, shelter, education, transportation, medicine, and other daily necessities.
An outreach sponsorship in the amount of $30 per month is used to provide national preachers with the resources they need to be most effective. From this sponsorship, the national preacher receives $24, while the remaining $6 is used for accountability expenses. Outreach funds may be used to assist in evangelism, for travel expenses, or to provide outreach materials (such as Bibles, Gospel literature, teaching visuals, or equipment).
A training sponsorship in the amount of $20 per month is used to equip national preachers and to provide them with continued training and education. From this sponsorship, the national preacher receives $16, while the remaining $4 is used for accountability expenses. Training funds may be used to provide study materials and curriculum, and to help cover the costs of national and regional training opportunities.
