Cyclone Disaster Fund for Malawi!

After months of hot, dry conditions, the rainy season is always welcome in Malawi. Bringing a dry, thirsty land to bloom, the people of this region depend on the rain to grow among other things their staple crops of rice, maize, and bananas.

However, as we live on a cursed planet - one that is out of balance - nature brings forth disasters such as earthquakes, severe weather, and destructive fires. You may have read recently about the devastating effects of a cyclone upon Malawi’s industrial city, Blantyre, and across much of the country’s southern region. Below are two photos that were taken and given to us by our ministry partners who live in Malawi.

fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
— Isaiah 41:10

Among the victims are over 400 dead from drowning in floods produced by the powerful storm, along with many thousands of people now displaced and seeking shelter wherever they can. Many of the drowning victims lived in the same neighborhood of Pastor Samuel Vinkhumbo’s church. He knew them and has witnessed to them. Some of them attended his church. Many of them - and we praise the Lord for this - knew the Lord personally. They have under these tragic circumstances left the land of the dying to now sing with joy in the land of the living!
